One year, four months left.
I'll keep doing what I do now, except driving to the office two or three times a week.

1. Money is your biggest concern and controlling factor, unless you know when you're gonna croak. i want to leave my daughter a nice chunk of $$. my Dad did for me.

2. Bill is SO right. If you're gonna do it, do it when your "YOUNG". Believe it or not, getting old sucks, especially if you have over indulged in life so far. I'm 67 and just beginning to lose the "killer" instinct I used to have. Now, to me, I'm just not mad at much anymore. I do have a bull Red fishing trip booked early October and a great Farther Daughter deer/Axis hunt planned with a great Outfitter here on the THF.

3. The LOVE of Getting up early has begun to fade. I get up when my dog wakes me around 7:30. Nap 2:00-4:00pm. Watch TV till 11:00pm +/-

4. refer to rule #1

Five months and counting. I'm 72 with good health and plan on piddling around making stuff out of old wood and selling the results on weekends. I will use that "free" money for my wife and I to vacation with as soon as she retires in May. I also plan on catching up on some hunting and fishing during the week while most of you are off the lakes and out of the woods.

Got 8 years left, that’s my planned age. Pretty close to monetary goal so all depends on how things play out at work, could be less

17 more months!

Then we are selling the house and buying a lake house, once I have learned the lake I will try and guide a couple of days a week for additional income to supplement SS and a small pension.

My son and his wife couldn't afford to buy her a new tire ($100). Now they told us they are expecting and she will not work. I can't retire because I have to pay other people's bills.

I've been eligible for three years and at the most I'll go another eight years. If my wife would retire today I would also pull the pin. However, we both have jobs that we love so I'm really in no hurry. It took me a long time to get where I am so I'm going to enjoy it for a while.

I hear things like this and realize just how blessed my wife and I are with our kids. Best of luck Dry Fire

In 4 more years you will have to start taking your RMD from your IRA. There is a little chart.

Fishing, hunting, reloading, shooting, old truck, old tractor and some cattle. That is my plan and I think it will more than keep me busy.

Can't wait to quit the corporate world, but don't ever plan on retiring. Goal is to ditch this at some point, and then work part-time as a school crossing guard. I love kid's and the outdoors.

58 here too. Technically retired, although I'm constantly working on something either in town or at the ranch. Always work to be done. I pick my battles carefully, especially in this heat.

likely 7-8 more years for me. I truly enjoy my job and the people that I work around and that work for me ... plus they pay me pretty well up . My wife hasn't worked full time since our daughter was born 33+ year ago, so basically a single income to cover all life's expenses, used her income for our vacations and added luxuries. She is pretty much the sole care giver for her 93 y/o mother now, so that keeps us pretty grounded with only short trips. We have mixed ideas on what will become in retirement ... we've always talked about retiring on Lake LBJ but waterfront properties continue to sky rocket so that's not likely.

Turning 62 next month. Really have the itch to retire. Probably try to hang on for one more year.

I retired 11 months ago at 53. It was fun for awhile but I'm getting antsy so looking to get back into the game for a few more years. The balance of being healthy enough to do what I want and life expectation is a bit tricky. My bride will far outlive me so the longevity is really for her.

With your good looks, tenacity, and computer skills, you could probably be a shoe in for a moderator on THF. It's my information that those guys make the big bucks.

Been retired for 16 years and for me it did not take long to get caught up on things that needed to be done. Then you say what do I do now? The wife and I are in pretty good health and have been able to do more than we have done. Just worked out that way. If I did not have the deer lease to go to whenever I felt like it I would surely have too much time on my hands.
