Drove thru the quail lease this weekend. Covered in broomweed. Looks like great cover. Anyone know of nutritional value if any? Didn’t see as much ragweed as I was hoping for.

Other thoughts on broomweed?

Ragweed is better but broomweed works. I've seen crops packed with the seed. The seed looks a lot like cornmeal.

Throckmorten was thick as all get out with broom weed. That place was really green and wet, two weeks ago.

I thought broom weed was a noxious plant. Maybe just cattle?

This covey was under a bush in a solid broom weed field.

I don't know about for birds...but broomweed is toxic to most livestock...goat weed also called dove weed, that's what I look for...

When the broomweed is fully browned out, quail can start eating the seed (mid-Dec in rolling plains). They love it for loafing cover, overhead protection from avian predators

Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy.
