used to see a lot of them when on the farm, don't remember any smell, one thing for sure, they don't have any back up...

Not sure I would eat it. Found one caught in a snare on our place in Montague. It dug a 6 foot diameter ditch a foot deep trying to get out. One of our guys skinned it for the wall. All other ones I have seen were way west just east of Lubbock. They are fun to chase...
