Let’s say 2010 and later gas engine truck 1/2 or 3/4 4x4

Which are the good ones and which have known problems to stay away from?

Not a GM with the 5.3. They screwed that engine up with the Active Fuel Management system.

Love my 5.0 ford. Its a beast.

Ram with a Hemi wants plugs every 30k or something like that and they are hard to get to. Most people don’t do them because of that.

Gm with 5.3 have a tendency to use oil.

Ford with the eco boost usually need turbos around 100k

I’d just go with whatever you want. Nothing is perfect. And a lot will come from prior owners.

I've had (have) 3 F150s with 5.0. Have been no problems but then again, I bought new and traded at 99.99k and 75k.

LTZ z71 with the 420hp 6.2L might be my next truck if I go back to s half ton.

The fuel management system basically turns off 4 cylinders when not needed. The number 7 cylinder is one of the disabled cylinders. The cranckcase ventilation return hose dumps on top of the number 7 exaust valve. There is new and improved valve cover for drivers side bank. It has a baffle that routes the recirculated cranckase vapor to an oil return hole in head. I think 2010s were the worse but may have corrected in later models.

The 2010 I learned on was not mine. It had been driven pretty hard. When the number 7 exhaust valve seal could no longer prevent recirculated oil vapor leakage into disabled 7 cylinder, , the 7 plug would foul every 1000 miles.

New valve cover helped, but driver finally orderd a tuner keep all 8 cylinders firing.

If you want reliability and low cost of ownership other than fuel I suggest a Tundra 5.7 liter Crewmax 4wd! It is bulletproof and main flaw is fuel mileage

This won’t be my Daily driver. A tundra is my first choice and I’ve had one and know about the gas. Mainly looking for reliability and room. Never been a fan of the f150 ride..

Besides gas is there any major down fall to a 3/4 ton gas?

Not sure what you are looking to spend but my 2015 white F250 gas is for sale. But it is 2wd.
