The best one I went to was the ‘79 Cotton Bowl - Houston/Notre Dame.
First, we could barely get there after the ice storm on New Years Eve. I’d say the Cotton Bowl was less than half full...20 something degrees.
Notre Dame down 34-12 with 7 minutes left...wins 35-34

2005 Rose Bowl.
Boise bearing OU.
Several of the last few National Championships.
Miami vs Penn State.
I like the Penn State white out night games.

The Aggies 7 OT game vs. LSU last year was pretty danged awesome.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.

Best one I've been to was the 2004 game of Baylor vs. A&M. I was a sophomore at Baylor and my sister was a freshman at A&M. She came to visit me and sat on the Baylor side with me and all my buddies.
Baylor threw the ball to the right side with a couple of minutes left in the game for a TD and then an extra point to tie the game up. Went to OT and Baylor threw the ball to the right side again for TD, then went for a 2 point conversion with the exact same play and scored for the win. 35-34 Baylor.

2002 Texas Tech vs Ags in College Station dubbed greatest game no one saw since it wasn't televised even though ags were ranked. We were the only Tech fans it seemed. Wes Welker and Kingsbury were great. Tech won in overtime 48-47. It was dead silent walking out of there and we respected that. Ags missed the extra point. It was so freaking hot and they ran out of water. Kingsbury and Welker both set school records. Passing and punt return yards.

My bad it was the 06 Rose Bowl Yep. Vince Young. We had been quail hunting on a ranch near Paint Rock. We were in a cabin on the east side of the highway. I had fallen asleep but awoke just in time to watch the touchdown.

Seen as in person or on TV?
Best game I saw in person was actually a defensive game in mid 90s sometime. Tech beat A&M 14-7 on a Zac Thomas INT he took to the house.
TV wise: mid 80s sometime when Miami upset Nebraska in the National Championship by 1 point after coming in double digit dogs. The O6 Rose Bowl/UT National Championship has to be on up there. Both teams kept fighting till the end. The 06 Insight Bowl was fun to watch too. Tech was down 38-7 midway through the 3rd quarter and roared back to beat Minnesota in OT 44-41. 07 Fiesta Bowl was great too with Boise St. beating OU. 08 Michael Crabtree's catch to help Tech down Texas 39-33.

I was there too for the Zach Int! Awesome. Literally flew back from Dallas with a job offer and straight to game. No one remembers the 2002 game since we were the only Tech fans at Kyle. Ranked as #1 Tech/Ag game no one saw but us. Best game to see on TV outside of the norm listed above was Tech's 35 point comeback over Minnesota in 2006 bowl. Record comeback at the time. And shot doves at 7 am next morning Dec 30th. Went back Jan 1, 30 degrees and limited. First and only sub freezing limit for me. Dallas county too.

for me it was the 1988 bedlam game. I was there and what was sad is the Parker had a great game (and a great year), but is forever remembered for that dropped ball. One of my buddies walked around after the game walking up to people, taking them by the shoulders, and saying, "he dropped the ball. he dropped the ball."

Notre Dame down 34-12 with 7 minutes left...wins 35-34 I’m pretty sure that is the same one my father an I went to. I would have been almost 10 and all I can remember is that our seats were in the east end zone behind the goal post covered in ice and that the stadium was almost empty. I also remember that hot chocolate is as my friend, boy and as it COLD!

I watched them Texas A&M game against Alabama in Alabama when Johnny D bag took it to them. That crowd was so silent at the end of the game it was almost like a death. It was a great game to bad he could get his crap together and make it a career but, oh well.

I don't think I've ever sweated that much in a non-work capacity. A&M missed two extra points on the day that could have resulted in winning the game. Other great games I've been at 2008 UT-TTU, Crabtree FTW 2006 TTU-A&M, ROJO in the corner with seconds remaining, 31-27. 1984 Auburn-UT, Bo got his but Texas got the win 35-27
