The ragweed these days is kicking my butt. Spent the better part of the long weekend sneezing and working on these two blades, both custom orders. One is a 99 layer multi-bar opposing twist Damascus with a fine piece of mesquite burl. The other is a more utilitarian forged 1084 with natural canvas micarta. I've done six or seven coffin handles and finally feel like I have the process down. Lots of measurements involved in keeping things symmetrical and in making the pin placement look right.

Perils of choosing not to take deposits... The Micarta customer straight up ghosted, haven't heard from him since the initial order. Fortunately I've got that one sold. The Damascus customer replied to ten or so emails over the last month, then has disappeared for a week once I sent the "it's done, you can pay now" email.

Been there more times than I can remember. Leaves you in a tough spot not knowing whether to just hold it and see if they show up or just go ahead and sell it to somebody else. I know things happen in life but I just wish they would man up and say they aren't going to be able to pay for it and not just leave you hanging.

For sure. I can tolerate life happening, delayed payments, whatever. I can't really tolerate not replying at all.
