This was her second year dove hunting , trying to get her to not chomp on the dove. In the end she started getting it. Here I tell her sit, sit, sit trying to stop her from chomping but in the end I started giving her a "hold" on the way in, and this worked to stop the chomping, force fetch training kicked it. I normally only dove hunt the opener but Tara really likes it, might have to do another dove hunt trip.. She has a soft mouth...

good Grand dog.... Pin feathers on dove are irritating to dogs...Her grand mom spits them out right at my feet as soon as she can...BUT will hold a duck for 10 min if I want her too...

good Grand dog.... Pin feathers on dove are irritating to dogs...Her grand mom spits them out right at my feet as soon as she can...BUT will hold a duck for 10 min if I want her too... Also those dove are just so soft and irresistible. Molly’s first dove season she did great in 2006, she held dove perfectly. The next season, Ryan shot his first whitewing he was so excited it fell in some high stuff we all ran to it looking for it, when I turn my head looking for molly, I see her chomping on it, eating it! She destroyed it ate most of it, Ryan was so pissed lol. But I worked on molly to not eat dove, but she always chomped on and put holes in the meat. She would come back with dove completely in her mouth and only the head poking out her mouth. I finally just made her a duck dog, but she had a soft mouth ducks and was so calm. Tara is doing great, in the end she was delivering and hold dove perfectly. I would give her a hold as she was coming in, that’s what she needed to hear.

I ha d to go back and look at some old pics, this was 2008 her 3rd season, she puts the squeeze on this dove so hard you can see the blood squirting out bottom left lol!
