I wasnt able to hunt opening weekend, but did sneak out this morning with a couple of buddies. Not a single bird seen on the field we were in. Saw 2 on a power line on the way out. This was in the Brookshire area. Any Houston area hunters have any luck so far?

Just outside brookshire, both afternoon hunts. Sunday 26 total followed by Monday 8 in picture and shot 2 while cleaning.

I hunted the Brookshire area opening morning. Only saw about 20 birds with about 5 coming into range. Hopefully it improves.

Always had better luck in the afternoon out there than in the morning. The people bordering us shot morning and evening both days and agreed the afternoon flight was better both days.
Many other birds left the property both evenings also.

Are you hunting your own property, or through a lease/outfitter? im on WGO, they have 5 other fields, 1 in brookshire, the rest closer to Waller. I was reserved to waiting another week or so, but if they're flying around the area I'll keep at it.

A friends property. Heard lots of shooting north of town opening day, not so much Monday, similar to us. All I can recommend is the afternoon seems better than morning this time of year for the area.

Go further west

Get in the flight zone and more agricultural land.
Pattison monaville sealy el campo

Find corn/ wheat/etc woodlines for roosting and hopefully water.
