Really nice 8pt. I have friend that has lived in the Bentwood subdivision for over 30 yrs now and always had nice bucks in his yard.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Yeah, I'm on the west side of 181, there seems to be more deer on the east side. When I moved out here 20 years ago, we didnt have any deer on this side. They started showing up about 8 years ago.
The sad thing is,that I usually find them dead on the hwy. That 181 is a killer hwy for deer

I know a family that hunts just west of town and they kill deer into the 170's from time to time. I have seen the pics of the deer they kill. 150+ are common, but they manage the deer the best they can and feed protein along with planted crops. The genetics are there, the age is the limiting factor.
181 to SA is a lot of traffic now compared to 20 yrs ago. Sure has built up along that route also in the past 50 yrs.

Jimbo, thats a really good area. A guy I work with lives in that area and he kills some really big deer on his place. Horns and body.

Nice deer.
It is kinda odd that the big 8 in my picture is out of velvet, most of the other bucks are still in velvet.

Im about 10-12 miles north of Floresville. Ive seen one other smaller buck that is hard horn. They are probably a little ahead of the curve, but I would think that is probably typical.

I am about 45-50 miles due SE from Floresville and have seen 4 bucks in hard horns as of yesterday. 2 mature, 1 middle aged and one younger 1. I am sure there are more but that is all that I have on cams as the bucks are still not hitting feeder everyday.
