Smokey Mountain is a herbal snuff The wintergreen and artic mint helped me quit after 35 yrs It was more of a habit to have something in my mouth So it satisfied that. No nicotine at all

Don't make other habits to replace a habit. I went with peppermints - holding it like a dip for hours - and the sugar screwed up a couple of my teeth close to the gums. I never had a cavity in my 15 years of dipping. I have had 3 since quiting almost 3 years ago. It was all because I had a peppermint almost every hour I was awake for the first few months. I now mainly use the "stim-u-dent" toothpicks that your dentist gives you. The oral fixation is real even 3 years in. Huge thing is just don't tell anyone you're quitting. That's just more pressure. Quit on Friday and don't take your after supper dip. Just go to bed. That puts you 8-10 hours into not having a dip in your system. See if you quit on a long weekend then you got 3 days that you can go take a nap when those really bad cravings hit. I didn't tell anyone for this reason. Night of day 3, I was laying in bed with my wife smacking the heck out of some gum. My wife asked why the heck I was smacking on the gum so bad. She felt real bad when I told her I was on day 3 of quitting. It isn't easy but dang sure is worth it.

I've started swapping Smokey Mountain artic mint with my skoal; the texture is weird but it gives me something to do. I'm down to one dip a day of skoal and that's only b/c I have to drive on these godforsaken highways in the metroplex

I'm going top say it's largely mental. I've been quit for a year after doing it for 12 years. I went on a deep sea fishing trip, picked up two cans before we left. Dipped those two cans, and haven't wanted it since. But I told myself that I could not buy a can once I stepped foot on land, it's been a month and still quit.

Yup, dipped for over 30 years. Happy Days, Hawkin, skoal and finished with long cut Copenhagen.
Quit cold turkey, decided nothing will every control me.

I smoked. Then I chewed. Then I dipped. The Copenhagen burned a hole in my bottom lip and it scared me enough to quit. A nasty [censored] habit.

Same here. 30 plus years. In my job I could not go around with a spit cup. It got to where it would give me indigestion. Worse and worse so I just decided to quit. That was 10 years ago. I miss it on occasion but will never dip again.

Dipped/chewed then smoked then quit day my second child was born.
It was extremely tough but got through everything day I pull up a smokers quitting time line, just to remind my self there was an end to all of it.
Now my last battle is caffeine I’m 4-5 monsters a day. It’s harder then smoking and I don’t even enjoy a monster like I did a cig

My dad quit cigarettes after more than 40 years. Said the urge never left him. He just learned to ignore it.

I quit dipping in 2009 after 30 years of it. I used the Smokey Mountain non tobacco snuff for a couple of weeks to get past the tobacco/nicotine part, then just quit the Smokey Mountain. Quitting ain't no joke and it sucked for awhile, but it definitely gets easier with time. I quit smoking in 1990 and ever since then the smell or thought of smoking a cigarette disgusts me. I have never gotten to that point with snuff. I don't ever crave it, but the thought of taking a dip sometimes sounds pretty good other than the health and backsliding part of it. It's probably because dipping was something I actually enjoyed, I just knew it was bad for me and that I needed to quit.

Like I said previously, it's all mental.
I've been quit for 1.5 years, went on a bachelor trip this past weekend to Nashville, which is filled full of beautiful scenery btw. Anyways, bought a can while I was there. Dipped at top golf, at home after a night out, did about half a can. Threw it away before I left on the drive home. Haven't even craved it. Just be stronger than your excuses.

Im about 10 days into quitting. Ive quit numerous times before and never make it more than a week. I made it 2 months once and 4 months another time but typically it is less than 5 days. Ive never been serious about it. I still love the taste of Copenhagen but Ive made the choice now to stop for good. Cravings are terrible at times but not as often as I thought.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

In my youth, I have done many things to excess, vices, I thank God above for allowing me to be someone who could simply decide to quit and do so without any issues at all. Prayers to all those who cannot do this. It is a battle I have not experienced, but have witnessed to various degree, and my heart goes out to them that suffer from this.

I won! Quit cold turkey in 1999 after dipping Copenhagen from age 9 to age 26. I also recently quit drinking alcohol. The world is a much clearer place now. If you are trying to quit and going through hell, keep on going. Just my .02, LeonCarr

When I quit drinking it was no big deal. I just decided I was through with it and never looked back. Quitting smoking has been a whole different story but it's doable even though not easy.

We can start up again once we make it to see our grandkids born. That’s my plan at least
