I just went through over 200 pictures for the last 10 or so days on the game camera. There wasn't a single racoon. I know I haven't eradicated them 'cause there were 2 or 3 on the last batch. Trapping them is a PITA. I'm not a softy, okay, maybe I am, but the last one tried to knaw her own foreleg off. I know, I know, I wouldn't last the summer in Alaska, but has anyone had them just suddenly disappear?

(I gotta 'nough problems with the pigs.)

Good problem to have, the coons that is. They are pretty predictable, odd that they just left.
Is that decent buck still around?

As long as the deer keep coming, if the coons are gone them count your blessongs!

They may have finally caught on that they are in danger, and moved in on a feeder or trash pile etc. somewhere else.

Yeah, he's hangin' out. I've named him "Spindly" 'cause he has such thin tines. Really tall, but he sure looks young. Might be a 2nd 10 looping by also. An older 8 seems to have more mass. I really need to shoot a couple of ancient does. Checking the trap in the morning for those dang, non-kosher swine. grin

My experience is you have a talented bobcat in your area who is relieving you of your coons.

I have less coons lately too...but I see that a few have been hit on the road across the woods, I think they are over at this horse ranch eating something better than my offering and the road is getting it's share. Maybe someone else is trapping them near by also.

^^^^^^^^^^^This is a big part of it....just look at the scat piles in the roads and you can tell what they are eating. Also all the neighbors now have corn feeders running and they have a buffet right now.

I think there's both in this area, but Boudreau better not be tresspassing. grin

I had one poor pic of of pig and what my imagination thought might have been a bobcat with something in its mouth. Maybe it was. That would be awesome.

Yeah, I heard the neighbor's feeder go off yesterday evening, close to our house. I hope his blind isn't facing this way.

Haven't seen any on our protein feeders. As soon as we start slinging corn, I'm sure there will be plenty.

Well, apparently putting out moldy HEB 7 grain bread on top of my expertly soured corn mix was a big mistake. As I did the sneaky-sneaky to the area, the lone occpupant was a healthy 8pt. WT...in the trap, but he hadn't triggered it. bang
As I commenced to wave my arms like a madman from over 100 yards away, he thankfully didn't freak too much and slowly dunce ciphered how to go out the way he came in without hitting the cable. That coulda been a real rodeo.

I really love that bread, and apparently, everything else does too.
