Looking to sell these pieces of history and was wondering what a fair price would be for them?

First up M1 Garand: It is a Springfield, but has some International Harvester parts. I believe it was rebuilt in the 50’s.

Next up M1 Carbine: I think it is an IBM receiver with a General Motors barrel. Have 7 mags for it and an original soft case.

Garand if it has no import stamp markings should be in the 850-1000 range. Go to www.thecmp.org and search the marketplace and within that you will have a subforum on the Garands and also the Carbines.

The Garands are still being sold, while the Carbines are not.

Again, if there are no import stampings you will do better. If they are stamped, I'd figure it's about a $200 hit possibly.

My advice is to use the CMP forum to gauge true value as you have knowledgeable folks buying and selling.

Hope that helps.

One thing to add is if they have the proof / cartouche marks on the left side of the stock... that will add in value. On the Garand, pull the op-rod back and see what the barrel info is? it will have the date and the manufacture. Also, you can do a bullet test and see how deep a 30-06 round (preferably ball / FMJ M1 ammo) will go into the muzzle.

Obviously, original barrel, and low muzzle wear will increase the value.

Both guns look really nice...

Sorry you have to sell.

Sorry for the late reply, but life seems to be moving to fast and this is the first time I could inspect the firearms again. TXboss, the collection is over growing the storage space, and I have a new rule, if I buy one, I have to sell two.

Here is what I found on the Garand: Receiver 1943 and the barrel is 1950. Looks like all Springfield parts, except for the op-rod. No cartouche on the stock, but it does have a p with a circle around it. The stock has been refinished. Very clean.

For the M1, no cartouche

Thanks all!

I would say $800 - $900 on the Garand and $900-$1100 on the carbine.

You have Harrington & Richardson op rod... which is perfectly fine as this probably went through arsenal rebuild.

With the Carbine being an IBM receiver, you will be at the top end of the carbine price. Pretty close to what Stikshooter says. Maybe 1200.

There should be a great market for both the Garand and also the Carbine.

Again... too bad you have to move these.

CMP Service Grades (assuming your's barrel is within SG specs) are selling for $750. I'd say you could easily add another $150-200, BUT it could have some super special part that could add a bunch that only Garand gurus would know. Visit the CMP forums. Folks there will help more than us.

I think TXBoss is on point with the carbine.

I have registered on the CMP forum, but have yet to get the rights to post. Thanks for the input!
