Mature but not old. He has the knees of a 4.5 year old I'd say 2cents

I agree with everyone in the 4-5 yo range. He isn't on the younger side of middle aged, but doesn't look fully post-mature yet either.

Depending on what you are looking for he is a nice deer and if you like him shoot him.

I hear ya dlrz. Im surprised so many going younger. Fouzman edged a little older and he seems to know his stuff. Summer pics always tuff but pretty good looks at him. Stx will get on and straighten us all out.

There's only 2 seasons in a year. Deer season and getting ready for deer season.

I think people are focusing too much on the stretched out 1st pic. Looks like a classic 4.5 year old there. The rest of the pics make him look older. Combining both angles I would go with 5.5 but wouldn't be shocked if he was older than that.

OK, so we are waffling between 4.5-5.5 for most, what difference does that make really?

OP, are you on a place that can only take a certain aged deer? If so, I don't think anyone would fault you for taking this deer thinking he was 5, but if you need the deer to be 6-7 then I think that's pushing it. If you are on a place that can kick you off and confiscate deer if they aren't over 7.5, like another poster said on his trophy place, then you are SOL because I doubt this guy would make that cut.

So, is this just an effort to say "hey look at this fine deer" or are you on a place that requires deer of a certain age for trophy deer?

Agree that 7 is pushing it, but not 6. I called him 5 because I couldn't see enough of his rump. He may well be 6, but probably a 5 year old.

I would call him 5-6, leaning more towards 6 because of his Roman nose and almost even triangle measuring from his forehead to jaw line to nose.

I think that deer is 6 /post mature, I wouldn’t argue against 7. Know more in a few months for sure, just still to early to get a definitive age.

Poops-You have any historical pictures from previous years?

Currently our management plan for determining shooters is that a buck with 8pts or less can get shot at 4.5
Bucks with more than 8pts have to be at least 5.5
I see this 10 pt as going either way so that is why I wanted yall's opinion. I'm not just trying to show off a nice deer for the heck of it, honestly trying to make an educated age guesstimate.

Unfortunately haven't been able to identify this buck, I may have historical pictures of him but I haven't matched him to any past bucks as of yet. If I get more pictures later I may update the thread with them.
