So we have several possums], foxes, skunks and feral cats running through a dry creek in our back yard. I actually have a game cam set up and it’s a very active area.

I was out of town last week (Thursday morning) and I get a call at 5 a.m. from my wife screaming I cannot get Justace to come in house, he is fighting something in the thick brush in the dry creek. I tell her to grab a broom handle and go out there and separate them. Somehow I knew that wasn’t going to happen, so plan two was for me to activate my ring floodlight cam and yell at Justace to come in the house. When I activated the camera it sounded like a war zone, there was growling, grass thrashing squealing, along with my wife screaming bloody murder ...etc. So I call Justace to come here, not working...I call again and again now remember I am 250 miles away screaming in my hotel room half asleep wondering if the people in the next room are thinking what’s going on. So plan 3 (final)I decide to set off the ring alarm, which does the trick. 110 decibel alarm and he runs in the house with my wife as well.

Fast forward to Friday afternoon and I start to get a small whiff of death. I strap my boots on long sleeves, gloves mainly because of the poison Oak and sure enough I found a large dead possum pulsating from all,of the maggots having their way. Trash bag in hand, pick,him up by his tail and most of his skin Oozes to his head,,,then the smell got waaay out of control for me and I started to gag. Got him in bag, well 3 actually and it still smelled. I swear I smelled that until I went to bed that night.

My whole point is, my loveable, most needy sweetest pup killed that possum. I just do not see him hurting anything. He is just not aggressive. I do feel kinda proud, but possums don’t harm anything.
