That first buck is the largest I have seen in 7 years on this place.

What's with the burglar bars and expanded metal panel? Of course, I like "re-purposing" stuff for the deer lease/ranch, but was just wondering.

That buck looks very mature in those pics and is very symmetrical. His tine length is really good and with all those arcs/bend in his tines.

I believe the four year old pics he was 3. He has a split on both brows this year. I'm not 100% sure its the same deer. I cant upload the 2017 pics because the computer they are on went out. Last year he looked very similar to this year except he was a 8 and now a 10.

If he is a Texas deer then he was older than 3 yr old back then IMO. To much neck/shoulder muscling and to full of a belly line to be 3 yr old. Scalled hocks running down his back legs would be a 5 yr old or older buck in areas I have hunted in Texas. Either way his is a great buck.

Last year he had a split g2 on his left side and two split brows. Crazy how rutted down he is by January. After seeing this pic STX do you believe that is the same deer? And I certainly trust your aging over mine.

I would say yes it is the same buck from all 3 yrs of pics based solely on shape of beams, shape of tines, browtines arcing backwards and splits on his browtines. The age progression seems to fit from the first year to this years photos. He just looks very mature in this years pics with that "hump" on top of his shoulders, IME that is always a sign of very/post mature. To me browtines are a key fingerprint for a buck, then shape of the rack and squinty eyes. Even if I am wrong and he was only 4 in the pics from 4 yrs ago that would make him 7 this year or post mature. Contrary to what some believe about aging bucks, some get better once they get to 9 yrs old or older. Right genetics and IMO they do not get involved in the rut as much, so they do is eat and grow antlers after the season. Some post mature bucks loose body mass/muscle and appear to be very young compared to what they looked like in previous years at 5, 6 or 7.

I tore down 80' of wrought iron pool fence on a job. I put it at the back of the pen and four hog panels at the front. I'm bow hunting from a 16' ladder stand and want the deer near the front of the pen.

Great looking buck, I too think he is old, post mature etc.

Have you seen him in person any of these years? or is he a ghost that gets seen by the cameras?

Have had a few over the years that we have never seen in person but had years of photos of.

I saw him at about 150 yards for the first time last year. He has started hitting feeders last year. Being on a bow only lease several of our deer die of old age.

Very nice mature buck. Bow only lease has advantages and disadvantages in the case of just out of bow range. Good luck and keep the pics coming
