I wanted to reach out and see if anyone had recommendations on good bird dog trainers for German shorthaired Pointers in Texas. I’m in Dallas so I prefer anywhere from San Antonio up to Dallas and a 3 hour radius of Dallas. I have a 3 month old male. Thanks.

Do you have much time to dedicate to training? I thought I would need a trainer, joined navhda and found enough people to help/teach me how and have avoided needing a trainer.

I don’t, unfortunately. The free time i have outside of work/wife/kids goes to my dogs but it’s hard to fit in my own training with this one. My 1yr old lab is no problem, I trained him easily, this guy is a completely different dog. I think I’m going to let someone else help train.

Tony Miller at Endeavor Kennels would be my recommendation. He is about 20 minutes south of downtown Dallas. He trained my GSP

Years ago I used a trainer that was located east of Van Alstyne. I can't seem to find any information on him. Anyone know?

I have a Braque Fracais that's been with Buck for the last month. Pick her up tonight in fact. My experience has been a very positive one thus far, and I checked around about him before choosing him.

GSP's are versatile dogs that point, retrieve and track. NAVHDA is a great place to start. As far as obedience, I have used Man's Best Friend in Grand Prairie with great success. Are you looking for a pointing hound only or tracking as well?

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

Rob did a great job with my setter he specializes in GSPs

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE
