Given no contract or agreement, if someone builds a structure or fence on your property does it automatically become yours? You could legally destroy it?

To be determined

What you have is commonly known as a boundary line encroachment.

Assuming it’s somethimg like a shed or fence that falls over the correct boundary like.

Start with a surveyor to make 100% sure it’s an encroachment.

After confirmation that it is, there are several avenues you can take

And no, I would not destroy it

Really, What do you expect the police to do?

Is it s fence/shed over the line by an inch or two? A makeshift meth lab? A makeshift shelter on a grow? Like someone said above short question short answer.

I have a big oak that starts on my land. Neighbor put a blind in it hunting his land. OK with me.

Built of YOUR property with no aggreement. YOURS. Make sure there's no paperwork if building/fence was there before you purchased. I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

Too many balls up in the air to even begin to guess. Need some specifics:

Is it a structure? If so, what kind?
Is it a fence?
How far over the line is it?
Is the property line clearly marked?
Is it permanent or temporary?

You can't destroy other peoples property even if its on your property. Legal action is the only way to get it removed....after talking has failed to get it removed. Oh, as as TexasTrophy said, you need to start with a server to be sure you are in the right.

I don't have a property issue. It was that landlocked thread that got me to thinking.

What if someone built like a building on your property or put a fence across? Not like a situation where it's just over the line but like a complete building or a fence cutting it in half.

I've heard of something called adverse possession.

so is eminent domain actually reverse adverse possession?

I believe the property owner has to be aware of it and for a period of time before adverse possession goes into effect.

Eminent domain is power by govt. entities for the greater good. I believe it has been abused past what it was suppose to be however.

Eminent domain is the wrong word for any of this.
