There is one downtown Dallas next to Omni, they try and put a modern spin on it, don’t go to that one. Go to the one on Sylvan Avenue, website below, they do their best to model themself after the original. You can also scroll down on the link and read about the history of the original. That brings back memories. Going to high school downtown, we made sure that was a Weekley tradition with me and my buds. "Jimmy special". Awesome.

Another vote for E Bar. Also like La Calle Doce. The original in Oak Cliff.

There is a new Herreras in Addison on beltline where the old Humperdinck’s used to be. Have not been there yet put I plan on checking it out, had some friends tell me it’s good.

I know it is not really true Mexican food but if you just want some good tacos, I like Torchy's.

Paula's in Arlington
Taco Regio in Arlington (best street tacos and warm salsa)
Mi Ranchito in Abilene ( the Bistek and Barbacoa are borderline a life altering experience)
Taqueria Puerto Vallarta in Rockport is great food but best breakfast tacos is Rosita's on Market St.
Taqueria Rio Verde in La Grange, TX
Carambas Spanish Inn in Midland, TX is legit
Jorge's in Odessa, TX is good
Jumburrito in Mid/Odesaa is great too (owner is a friend so I'm basis)
you need to check out Hi-Ho Restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX
Red River Cantina, League City, TX, run by some of the best people I know, give them a whirl.

Josie's Mexican Food in Port O'Connor, if you ever catch fresh fish with in 60 miles of this place, go there, get it fresh cooked with peppers, onions, and more butter than Paula Dean would consider.

I am still on a quest to find the best. Many down, many more to go - but MAN am I having fun searching!

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Enchiladas is usually my go to at Mexican restaurants but I generally grade them on their chips and dips.

You are not to be trusted!

Don Juan's in Tyler is pretty dang good.
A lot of good places in Amarillo too. I miss breakfast burritos over these stupid breakfast tacos, that is definitely a regional thing.
I judge a good Mexican food place by how fast they get chips and salsa to you when you sit down.
I also much prefer tex mex over new Mexican food.
