Pete King becomes first House Republican to back assault weapons ban.
Rep. Pete King of New York on Monday became the first House Republican to back an assault weapons ban, joining its 200 Democratic co-sponsors.
The bill, titled "The Assault Weapons Ban of 2019", was introduced in February by Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.).
It applies to semi-automatic assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition magazines, both of which would be illegal to import, transfer, manufacture, sell or possess.
“(v) (1) It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.
“(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession, sale, or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of enactment of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019.
I don't have assault weapons, I have defensive weapons. Also, this should be titled "The SEMI-AUTO ban of 2019".
I wonder how many other RINOs are going to come out in support of this. Any thoughts?

He may be new to the bill but I don't think it is a new position for him. Doubt is a problem with his Long Island base either.......
