Broke a rib just out of High School while water skiing. Not much that can be done, but a stretchy Velcro rib belt did provide some support and it helped. I remember a sneeze or a laugh would just about bring me to my knees. Think I got the rib belt at the drug store. Sorry man.

Broken a few.

Early this year I took about a 3-4 foot fall, landed on my left side with arm bent under my ribs. It hurt to breather, hurt to stand, sit, and lay down, it basically hurt to live. 3 days later I competed in a rifle match. Some times you just have to suck it up and move on with life.

That water is pretty hard going 40 mph. That’s how I had my rib injury.

I guy at our church was on a trip with my father in law and lost his balance. He fell on the sidewalk and broke his pelvis. Its been 4 months now and he still cant get around. I dont know how old you are but you gotta take that stuff serious when dealing with falls.

Broke 3-4 some time ago. Went to the Dr. a week later and he said what everyone else has said, nothing you can do but try to stay still. The Dr. did give me a pain script that helped the first week or so.

Had one years ago. Still feel it at times. It pales compared to arthritis.

Before an elk hunt I was trying to get my butt in shape for a real horse ride and was going to a stables by my house for a few weeks. Friday before a Sunday flight I call to go out there again and the guy says he had to take a colt to the vet but that I ride good enough and know what I'm doing that I can saddle up and ride some by myself. (I knew this was the kiss of death.) Sure enough, mare takes me under some low hanging limbs, I lean forward, and she throws me off. I land on my left side. I get back on, 'cause "you gotta get back on the horse" and ride for about 20 more minutes, brush and put her up. That night I turn purple from my arse to my left shoulder. I get in the hot tub and the next day I go to the kids that my wife gets a massage at regularly. The young guy pulls the sheet down and all he says is "Oh $%^&!" laugh

Whiskey and Aleve. I get on the plane, get to Bozeman and lay in the hotel room with ice on my side. Ride up the mountain the next day. Hunt for 4 or 5 days, me laying down at the guide's feet to catch my breath frequently, if there's any elevation hiking. The guide, another hunter, and me make a fire on the side of a ridge and watch a meadow below. The younger hunter spots a bull coming out into the meadow. Guide tells him to go down and shoot him. I glass the meadow and see a bigger bull coming out behind. Guide tells me to go down too. Side suddenly didn't hurt and I beat the kid down the mountain. I tried to get him on the bigger bull, but he wanted the first one. We got them both.

Got home, still hurting, and went to a clinic. Two broken ribs. They still hurt sometimes when I lay on that side. Must be 10 years ago now.

You can take Tylenol together with the Aleve, but do NOT take more Tylenol than instructed on label. Taking both really takes the edge off the pain.
I took 8-hr Tylenol's at nighttime to make it last.

fyi, my whole side turned BLACK a week later ….

I took a fall from 12 feet and handed on my side. Oh all of the lovely things that can happen. Concussion, broken arm, and the worse was bruised/cracked ribs ribs. A sneeze was about the worse pain I have ever felt.
The nurse told me to hold a pillow on my chest, hug it and pull it tight when I was about to sneeze. That helped a lot.
I was allergic to morphine so I just took Advil, time is your friend.

8 broken ribs and a collapsed lung along with shattered pelvis and three broken vertebrae. Don’t change a tire on the roadside. Two days in and I had hiccups for 18 hrs straight. The morphine didn’t make that bearable at all. Just try not to move much and do some deep breathing exercises to keep from getting pneumonia
