I’m a student at Texas Tech University and I am trying to find some land to do some hunting on. I am willing to work or even spend a little bit of money. If any one has any advice or knows of someone around Lubbock it would be greatly appreciated.

You might check the land and lease section or the guides and outfitters. Good luck with your search

When I was going to Tech, we would always get an annual public hunting permit.

Plenty of areas within an hour or so of campus to hunt ducks, geese, and sand hills. And the hunting was surprisingly good.

Same here. Had some of my best duck hunts just outside of Lubbock. The city use to own and day lease plots to the east of town for $40-$50/day for geese. Not sure they still do that.
We hunted over towards floydada for dove on the public land and I also found a lease near matador. There’s opportunity out there..

I appreciate all the feedback and I definitely will look into it. I’m from east Texas and I did a lot of public hunting back home didn’t realize that there where public hunting opportunities out here.

Invest in the OnX app. Will show you property owners. Start ASAP knocking on doors of places that have water. Outfitters have locked up a lot of the areas closer to town in the last few years though.

I downloaded the app a couple weeks ago. I am definitely going to put it to use. Thanks

Will OnX show the outline of the lands in the TPWD APH along with the no shooting areas, within those lands?

I have found that the TPWD maps are pretty accurate for that.
