Roughly about 60% public 40% private. In two cases some of the public land I hunt is land locked and you must have ranchers permission to cross his private land to get to it. I have that permission. It aint wrong, Im not sorry and its probably going to happen again.

I thought seriously about living in TX. The main reason I do not is because of the leasing thing. If I lived in TX I would be priced out of the market on a quail lease.
I do not deer, elk or pronghorn hunt. I wont run dogs during deer season. I'm scared they will shoot my horse thinking its a deer. Shall we say I have seen nothing that impresses me about deer and antelope hunters. I'm afraid of them and breath a sigh of relief when it closes and I can go back to bird hunting.
I live on this side of the state line because of my hunting and the public land.

I am pretty fortunate living here in Montana, 50 miles from the Canadian line, I run my pups twice a day, mornings and evenings, unless it is real hot, then we head out to the lake in the afternoon for water work. I know you folks down there have to deal with the terrible heat and humidity during the summer, something I do not envy. [Linked Image]
