That the first time I have ever read that. Sounds like you might need a new Fat Wrench....once you crank them down the plastic almost sticks to them like glue.

I've got more Vortex than I care to admit to the haters but I like them and they stand behind them should I ever need it...I haven't, to date but the cheapest thing I have from them is a PST.

This year I have sent back stuff to Zeiss, Vortex and Swarovski.

Rating of this years experience—Vortex is the gold standard in CS, Swaro second, Zeiss actually upgraded the scope to a lot higher end model but was roughly an almost 2 month process, with repeated onhold calls.

Used Luppy’s CS last year, was second to Vortex.

Love or hate Vortex they pretty much made the industry go to a no fault, transferable lifetime warranty and redefine customer service.

Last year and this year I have NOT sent back Bushnell, SS, and Nighforce. I need to send back Vortex.

Last year and this year, I have seen failures from Swarovski, Vortex, and Zeiss.

Last 18 months have been approximately 5000 rounds fired or spotted.

Ok its in the mail. For those of your who have used the vortex warranty so much, how long has it taken to get the product back?

My shipping says it will be there by Monday.... but the last time I mailed something out of state with the post office it was stuck in dallas for 3x what the total shipping time was suppose to be lol.

Shouldn't take long at all. I think within 1-2 weeks at the longest before you should have something back.

Just to clarify, I have nothing against the Burris rings - I think they are great. I meant that Vortex telling you to use them to "fix" one of their scopes that will not zero would NOT be an acceptable response for me...

I’ve sent several things back. I was surprised but when I got them back they worked correctly. The longest I have ever waited was 2 weeks. I’ve sent a scope in on a Friday and received it back the next Friday.

Quick, probably will have replacement or fixed in a week to two weeks max.

Only customer service department that’s quicker is TPWD hunter Ed replacement card. That was two days

Got a call from Vortex today. They have inspected the scope and say there isn't anything wrong with it.

I asked him if there was any internal adjustment (I don't know, never taken one apart) he said no there isn't and the scope functions fine tracks accordingly and had more travel than advertised. He said he could hardly believe I had ever mounted the scope at all much less in Warne rings because the scope appeared to be in perfect new condition and the tube was still straight with zero marks.

I told him I didn't know what was wrong with it, but I have mounted it on 2 different rifles and without the use of adjustable rings (burris signature z rings) it would max out the downward adjustment and be between 12 and 18 inches high at 100 yards. he offered to mount it on one of their rifles and test it tomorrow at the range and see what happens. (he said he would mount it on a TRG chambered in 6.5CM that usually zeroed about 7 inches high of center) sounds like he is putting it on a rifle that is somewhat known for hitting a little high?

So what would be your next step? Has anyone asked for a replacement? If they send it back and it zero's ill be happy, but I don't have any faith in that at all. Ive used it on two rifles and had the same issue on both.

This is what I was afraid of.

I think your next step is to wait for them to provide results from it being mounted on their rifle.

Gary,

Yes sir, pending what he comes back with. Said he would shoot it tomorrow. My impression from talking to him that he feels confident its going to zero up just fine. Ive mounted it on 2 rifles and it doesn't have enough downward adjustment. On my savage I was able to get it to zero with the max adj. I could with burris signature z rings and the elevation bottomed out, didn't even have to use shims for my zero stop lol.

If he has the same issue im sure I get a new one or they "fix" it somehow.

If he gets it to zero, what's your next step?

I'm with Gary... wait and see.

If the result remains "nothing wrong with it... I hate to be this way, but it is a no questions asked warranty...

"I did not see it laying in the driveway when I was backing up..." blush

Checked in to confirm suspicions of Vortex.

Was not disappointed.

I will state that I use Burris Signature Rings with absolutely no problems using Burris and Leupold scopes. You should read this thread from another forum:

www.longrangehunting.com/threads/bu...fiasco-beware.203626/page-5#post-1697335

I am not sure if posting a thread from another site is a no-no here, but I am only trying to help the OP.

I don't have an issue with the z-rings at all, I like them and im using them on the original rifle the vortex was on with my new scope.

Im trying to mount the vortex on a cz and to my knowledge I cant get z-rings that mount directly to the integrated dovetail on a cz. Also with the max adj I could get out of the z-rings I still had the elevation adj maxed out to zero it with one load, I didn't have enough travel to zero with 2 other loads. Also if im going to have to buy a pic rail and new rings for the cz to use this scope I may as well just toss it and buy a new scope.

If they don't find a way to fix it I think I will probably look at what else swfa has, I think they do trades.

Of course.

Vortex has amazing customer support, though. They’ll make anything right.

Any news from Vortex? If he says it's good to go, try it on a third rifle before considering ckat's suggestion. It aint ethical but we are human. You could go to confession after and still go to heaven.

Vortex called late this afternoon zeroed fine for him. Said he thinks it’s probably just my rifle, even though it did the same on both.

I’m going to give it another try see if somehow they fixed something or whatever may try on a third rifle but will have to buy another rail to do so.

Past that I told him they would hear back if it still didn’t work and he said ok he just couldn’t fix it if nothing was wrong.
