Seems as if there is one in every crowd. My dog box on my Gator is a three hole. I never double them up for sleeping but I can hunt six using the Gator. Usually three on the ground and three for rotation in the dog box, except for the brief exceptions. The exceptions are where the trouble starts. Some dogs simply will not double up with other dogs. Ever had one? Ever had to put up with one?

yep, got one now. He will let another dog in the box, but then pretty much takes the whole box, crowding the other dog into a corner and growling or nipping them if they try to take more space.

I haven’t had any, but have been around a few. It’s a challenge while traveling.

I had a walker hound that would not share a box with another dog. It would probably have killed any dog placed in it's box. It was fine with other dogs at the tree though. It was my best hound and a good one for training other hounds with, so I just worked around the problem. If I was going out with my whole pack, that one got to ride up front with me or short leashed to my roll bar if I was in my Jeep.

Among our hunting tribe, three of us had pups from the same sire and dam. Britney brothers as it were.
My dog Shooter and his sibling, Tucker, never got along.

Tucker would walk by Shooter and growl and all Hell would break loose.
This went on for years until they both got too old to squabble.

Tucker is gone now, Shooter is nearly deaf and his sight is failing.
Kinda like us.

Last year I went on a guided quail and pheasant hunt up in the panhandle. The guide had a small hot-headed pointer. The beginning of day one, he started a fight with my shorthair who was barely a year old at the time. It ended with me having to rip my dog off the pointer who was on the ground pinned on his back. At the time I was embraced and thought it was a bad way to start the trip. I wasn't aware that the other dog started it until later on. On day two the same dog started a fight with my friend's 65-pound shorthair. Again, it ended with the smaller dog getting his butt whooped.

A buddy of mine had a chocolate lab that did not care for other dogs at all. She is the reason my old Brittany, who is now retired at 13 years old, never trusted brown dogs. When she was a pup we were in the hotel room cleaning up after hunting quail all day. I witnessed that crazy chocolate bitch all of a sudden get a wild look on her face when she looked at my pup 10 feet away (who wasn't looking towards her), walked over, and bit her in the rib cage. Just to jack with her, completely unprovoked.

Never met a dog she wouldn't fight, but around people she was fine. Acted more like pit bull with that switch just going off. bolt

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Hunted teal one morning with a guy and his Chessie female, 10 or 11 shooters, and 5 dogs, like opening weekend of teal can be...that Chessie started a fight with each of the other 3 dogs and my 10 month old black lab pup, that were there. The owner just acted as if was normal canine behavior. I refused to hunt with him if his Chessie came along after that...ended up so many guys said the same thing that the outfitter had to tell him to leave the Chessie home. I've never tolerated dog on human or dog on dog aggression, and been bit more than once enforcing it.

had plenty when chasing coyotes with grey hounds, doulble box behind the truck cab, 4 dogs to a side, seems there was always two that couldn't get along,if you have never seen the set up, the dogs could stick their heads out over the drop door, out through wheat & milo stubble, when you jumped a coyote the dogs could see, drive like hell, get close slam on the brakes trip the box gate and away the chase, lots of fun.

Many nights and early mornings spent doing that in my youth. Tons of fun
