I never knew these things even existed til last year. Saw them hanging on the wall at academy. Picked it up, looked at it and read the package. Put it back, walked away snickering.

About 10 years ago, I "accidentally" got one. Blow it in my backyard, it was April-May, surprisingly, 20-30 doves flew over and landed on my neighbor's roof. Never use it in the field. I doubt it works well in a wild place.

My son used to love playing with it while dove hunting, don’t think it helped, but he sure had fun with it.

I don't use a call but I learned something many years ago that has served me well. If they're coming in two at a time and you kill one of them, imitate the whistling sound their wings make in flight and the other bird will come back around allowing you a shot. Works more than 50% of the time.

I've always called beer "dove calls" cuz just when I reach for it, a bird is surely gonna fly over and away without a shot. Kind of like taking a whiz while duck hunting.

Popping the top on a cold one or peeing on a rock seems to work best, next would be opening a tailgate or putting mojo's together.

I never knew they existed until this past weekend I saw my neighbor calling them this past weekend. They definitely work, no doubt.

I got to talking to him, you can tell it is all he can stand to wait until September.

I hate to be "that guy," and I'm not sure if there was any sarcasm, but I would just warn you about advertising that you do this. What you do on your own property is completely up to you, and I could care less, honestly, but just be careful who you tell. It's illegal in Texas to hunt migratory birds over bait. Putting corn out could be viewed as hunting over bait. Just a heads up. Again - I understand doing it on your own place and I'm all for having fun, just be careful who you advertise it to! cool

careful, duck season is around the corner and all the butthole duck hunters might edit your post to look like this smile You could be somebody's quote line for years. Just ask poor old LSU about tinkling in his waders.
