That is the same speed I got with the 156gr Oryx bullet in the 6.5 Creedmoor but used Reloder 16.

DStroud,

I believe you had some of the 180 eldm come apart in your 28 nosler. How many grooves was the barrel? There is a theory of 3 and 4 groove barrel, high speed and high twist going around?

Mine is a 4 groove Benchmark barrel.
I did have two come apart on same day under same circumstance. Both times it was 3rd shot of 3 shot string which is the most I shoot without a long cooling. Load was running around 3200fps
At the time my barrel had about 200 rounds down it. Now its close to 350 and starting to see firecracking get more noticeable.

You would have to really be shooting far to make these better than the 143 or 147s. Even the 130-135 don't give up anything to them out to around 500yd except a little energy. This is running numbers for a SAUM. Should buck the wind enough to give 1" advantage over 130s at 500 and drop 4" more. Stretch to 1000yd and its a lot different in the wind but I use mine to hunt anyway so 1k is out of the question on that no matter the bullet. I think 135gr JLK and 143ELDx will get getting my business for now.

I agree they don’t give a big jump in BC performance which may have been intentional as they show to be stable in the normal 1/8 twist barrel. Compared to the Sierra 150gr which shows optimal to be 1/7.5.
I plan to try them on game as there are deer hunts that turn into Elk/ Aoudad hunts and the extra thump they offer may come in handy.
I have used the 135 gr Classic with great success so that’s not a bad way to go and I may end right back there.

The 143 seems to be a solid performer but not sold on the 147 as of yet... seems from others I know who tried them they have had inconsistent results but I have not shot enough animals with them to say one way or another.

I haven’t used the 147 personally but I have the 143 loaded up and they have performed perfectly. Took my sheep last year at 515yd and the bullet did great

Tried H4831sc with this round. Was able to again run to 2777 but zero pressure. In my rifle, I don’t think I can get enough powder in the case to reach over pressure. This was a compressed load. This appeared to have a wider node for me. An .6 grain spread averaged 2724 with an ES of 4. Loaded in .2 grain increments

What brass are you running? Primer pockets will let you know if pressure is excessive. The SRP brass helps when running max+ as it will hang in there longer.

Using Hornady brass. I plan to shoot again tomorrow. I might clean those and check the pockets. Thanks

Nice Chad!!
My 22 inch 6.5 PRC is running 2939 average with the 156 EOL and shooting well. Those should sell as they run good with 1/8 twist and should hit with authority way on out there if needed.

Correct, most PRC shooters who are running the 156 Berger's or 153 A-Tip's have a long magazine to accommodate the longer COAL of the round. These run right at ~3.0" long.
