In the hog section I mentioned that I got a decent sized sow this afternoon. What I failed to mention was that this was the first hog I took with the VX5 and firedot. It wasn’t late, but I was shooting down a narrow lane toward a feeder and it was pretty dim. About 140 yards. Plenty of hogs of all sizes and all were solid black. I put the crosshairs on the hogs, and just like many times before, the black crosshairs were lost against the black hogs. But this time I pushed the side button for the firedot, put that dot on the biggest hog and let fly. The 260 and the 120 gr Nosler BT put her down, though I did fire an insurance round, just to make sure.
I am very pleased with the firedot. It was exactly what I needed and worked perfectly. Even on a solid black hog, now I can place the bullet right where I want it.
Also of note, the 260 seems to kick a bit more noticeably when I’m hunting in summer clothes.

Good report, I just bought my second VX5 3-15 w/ firedot a few weeks ago. I like those scopes a lot.

I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I’ve been a fan of the firedot since they they came out in the VX-R. They will turn down low enough to hunt at night without hurting your night vision. Now that it’s available in the 5 and 6 I consider them the perfect hunting scope.

I'm a fan of the Firedot as well. I have 2-7 VXR and a 3-9 Patrol.

Got the same scope 603 and while I have not used it on a hog yet I really look forward to doing so. Glad to hear your story.
