Skip Boston in such a short time frame.
Do not stay in Times Square area.
I liked the area by NYU.
Catch a ballgame. Football or Baseball.
Empire State Building. Before sunset, to see at day and night
Central Park.
I like juniors restaurant and cheesecake on broadway.
Ground zero. Agree with all of this and..... If you like Italian visit Eataly. Statue of Liberty Broadway Play or Musical Sunday Brunch make reservations

Have to do Ground Zero. I would pony up for a private guide or at least one of the smaller groups. It is an unbelievable experience. Plan on the better part of the day there. Spend the time you have left walking around Wall St. and checking that stuff out. Most of what you do will be up around Times Square, but definitely worth a day in the financial district. There are some really cool little pubs and bars down there to get a bite to eat and a beer. You have to do a Broadway show. Super expensive but if money no object or you can find a deal somehow, Hamilton is incredible. I went in expecting to be highly disappointed but the show was phenomenal. Have seen a few Broadway shows and they didn't impress me. Hamilton is different level. If you have kids with you, or just like slapstick comedy, go see "The Play That Goes Wrong". It is hilarious. My kids, my wife and I all laughed until it hurt. This one is priced right, too. The Play That Goes WrongAs for food, I agree on the Pizza and Italian places. There are some nice steak houses there but the steaks are just okay. I'll take a Texas steak any day of the week over one from NYC. Grand Central Station is pretty cool. Ellen's Stardust Diner is supposed to be cool but there will be a 2 hour line to get in. We didn't wait it out. Empire State Building is way over-rated. I wouldn't go do that unless you find yourself with nothing to do. View of NYC is better from the top of the Freedom Tower anyway. If the Rockette's have any holiday shows going on by that time the wife and/or kids would enjoy that. Central Park is pretty cool, too. When you see how people in NYC get outside, you'll really appreciate living in Texas. But a lot of movies were filmed there and it's kind of cool to see all of the locations in person.

-The pastrami or corned beef sandwich at Katz's was worth standing in line for. -Ellis Island was way more interesting to me then the Statue of Liberty. Especially if you have family that came through there. -Walking from Manhattan to Brooklyn over the Brooklyn bridge was fun, great views and a little exercise. You can finish it up with pizza at the original Grimaldi's. it's cash only though and try to show up mid afternoon or late evening or there will be a line. After pizza head over to the park under Manhattan Bridge for a spectacular classic view looking back at Brooklyn bridge. There's also a carousel nearby that's been in a bunch of movies.

Worked in NYC for a couple of years. My favorite hotel is the Brooklyn Marriott. It has large rooms, not your normal postage stamp NYC hotel room. About a block from the J Street station (major subway hub, you can be anywhere in NYC in 45 min. - try that in a taxi.) Walking distance ( less than a mile) from the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn heights, and Battery Park.

I did too, but I was a little tike. I certainly wouldn't have been allowed to be so "handsey". You needed a better tailor back then .
