Looking at mid October.

Weather should be nice.

Who’s been, what are the must do’s?

3 nights 4 days

Haven’t booked it but getting close

Is Boston worth the hassle?

Went to Columbia one summer. Made several other trips. Saw several plays. Took the boat trip around Manhattan.

Any of the New York delis were the highlight for me.

Save Boston for another trip.

Put on your walking shoes. Lots to do and see. Starbucks on every corner if you like coffee.

Walk the Brooklyn bridge and hit up the pizza place next to Grimaldi's at the base of the bridge in Brooklyn - It's not named Grimaldi's but Grimaldi owns it. Yea that's right and you have to actually tell them you want sauce on your pizza.

We loved it and I'd go back and I was never a big New York City guy. My kids loved it too - two boys and my daughter hit up the square at night after a long day and hit up all the street vendors and food vendors and found a 24 hr bowling alley. Came back a little drunk around 3am - momma and I were a bit worried but they still talk about what a good time they had.

See as many of the museums as you can.

When we went St Patrick's Cathedral was under renovation and the old lady out in the harbor was closed. My Grandma's name is out there in a book somewhere that I want to go back someday and see. Then say a prayer for how blessed I've been in the cathedral.

Skip Boston in such a short time frame.

Do not stay in Times Square area.

I liked the area by NYU.

Catch a ballgame. Football or Baseball.

Empire State Building. Before sunset, to see at day and night

Central Park.

I like juniors restaurant and cheesecake on broadway.

Ground zero.

Boston needs to be a trip all to itself unless you are going to be up there for a couple of weeks.

Sooo much to do. No time for Boston on such a short trip to New York City.

Nice restaurant: Craft

You can arrange a catered picnic in Central Park. That was pretty cool. You just show up.

I wouldn't leave the city - we wasted a day on a Hudson River Valley tour (FDR's estate, etc.).

We saw the New York Philharmonic and, if we ever go back, I'd see the Metropolitan Opera and something at Jazz at Lincoln Center, but that may not be your cup of tea.

You can just skirt the edge of Time Square and see what you need to see quickly. Way too many people there for me. Eat in Little Italy (Mulberry Street) instead.

I would avoid staying in Times Square. I stayed at double tree Times Square a few months ago.

But Times Square is pretty shady.

Lombardi’s is supposed to be the first pizza joint in America. It’s a different kind of pizza, and it’s very good. I recommend that.

The original capital of the USA was in NYC. Interesting museum, right down near Wall Street. Avoid The Street.
I always try to catch whatever is playing at the Blue Note in The Village. Usually some interesting talent. I saw a guitar player who picked the strings -- instead of strumming-- at an amazing speed which seemed impossible. Take a cab out of there; gets weird at night.

Metropolitan Museum. You gotta spend some time in there. It’d take days to see it all. I love that place.

We did the NYC city pass. Probably one of the coolest things we did was riding on top of the open roof double decker bus at night. It took us across the Brooklyn bridge and all around that end of the island. We were there on Christmas day into NYE and it was insanely packed.

I concur.

When we went we ate at Lombardi's, Katz's Deli, Carmine's, Ellen's Stardust Diner, and The View. All were good, but Carmine's and Lombardi's were really cool. The View was a neat place but pretty pricey.

Definitely go see Ground Zero museum....very moving and emotional experience. Set aside several hours for it.

Been a few times for work but never really had much time to get away. The one highlight for me was the Italian food at Mateos in Howard Beach, John Gottis old neighborhood. Plan to go back on my own time eventually, may take a helicopter tour. My friends told me it was pretty cool.

I second this, especially if you are a history buff. You could easily spend an entire day at the Met just soaking up the history. The arms and armor section is awesome.

I also enjoyed Ellis Island, The Cloisters, and the American Museum of Natural History.

Hit up a good pizza joint. I too liked Lombardi's, as others have mentioned.

If you are with the wife, go see a musical.

I enjoyed walking around Little Italy and Wall St. as well.
