One interesting thing I noticed was at every gas station there was hunting magazines in Afrikaans. Apparently hunting is very popular there not only with international hunters but the locals as well.

Your observation is spot-on... Lots of native Africans are hunters. Many outfits and game farms offer short 2-4 day meat/cull hunts in the off-seasons to locals. Bow hunting is rapidly becoming popular there as well. 16 years ago there was one "bow shop" in Jo'burg and it was very limited to say the least. Now there are really nice bow shops in every province of RSA. You can find pretty much anything there that you would find here, but the prices are higher.

Update:

My animals are on there way home. Everything so far that we have dealt with has been smooth as far as the dip/pack, crating and shipping to the warehouse for export.

From here they will show up to a Customs agent for inspection and then to the receiver for transport to my taxidermist.
