I have a SM18017 6x50S nightvision scope coming. It will be for a dedicated night hog hunting stand. What is cool is that the shooting bench in my stand has a USB port on the shooting bench, so I will not have to use the scopes batteries while hunting with it. Looking to use this on a standard action Remington 700 initially. Anyone who has used this setup on a Remington 700, what scope mounts and height did you use? If my original redfield one piece base is short enough for the rings, I think I can get out of this fairly inexpensive by going to Leupold super high rings. Or if standard high rings will be tall enough I can get the extended set that will allow me to move the scope back farther. That mount is windage adjustable and there is a .15 MOA long range base I can get if I have an elevation problem with the scope getting to center before sight in. If anyone can tell me what the length of the mounting tube of the scope is, that would be very helpful in pre planning my scope mounts. I looked on the online manual for this scope and it does not give that information. Any other suggestions on the setup? TIA

Mine is a 4.6x42s the tube length is 4 5/8 and I use the egw qd high mounts so I can move the scope from ar to bolt guns. I believe the tubes are the same.

The rifle I'm putting this on is 4 1/2 inches between the rings. I have medium leupold rings with a 50mm scope that just fits currently. Found some 30mm leupold high extended on sale that I am going to try first. Crossing my fingers I will not have any elevation issues with my current base.

I used the herders 30mm rings to mount my sightmark on my AR.

I will be mounting this to a new rifle in a year or two or an upgraded night vision or thermal if I find I use this one much. Don't know what kind of rifle that would be yet. Might or might not be AR based. Probably something that will be suppressed too. For now I am wanting to go with setting up on what I have as easy and inexpensive as I can to try this out.
