I would glassblast and pickle it then hit it with cheap paint that will contrast with the berm behind it and the gray steel under the paint. You want to see the target clearly and also the bullet strikes which will remove the paint and expose the steel.
Cast I have a short attention spa

I just painted these tonight with some implement paint from tractor supply. No idea how it will hold up, but it covered very well.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I could see someone else posing this question; however, this makes no sense coming from you

Any paint will work. JG just hates the Rustoleum spray tips lol. Krylon is his preference if I recall.

Cheapest white paint on the shelf. You're just going to shoot it all off anyway.

Rustoleum nozzles clog up before the can is empty of paint. Rustoleum is good paint if you can get it all out of the can. They know this problem and they do not correct it, so they are stealing money. I hope they burn in hell. The big round nozzle is no wano. The little nozzle with the spring at the back side of the nozzle will not let you down. "Krylon Dual" paint primer covers the fastest. You get more work done with one can of paint. And if you don't use it all today, a week from now it will go back to work.

Buy the pistol grip with a trigger adapter that snaps on top of the can. It's about $3.00 and makes it about $100.00 easier. If you're gonna use the whole can shake the hell out of it about every 60 seconds. If you're not going to empty it turn it upside down and let it spray a few seconds before you put it away. That'll clean the nozzle.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Tell you what...I'm fixing to cut a butt load more AR500 targets over the next couple weeks. You can buy one for every brand paint and do a proper test..

I worked a long range match one time and they used some "powder" paint that when you hit the steel made a little dust could for lack of a better term and made it easier to determine hits. IDK what it was, but it was pretty neat.

I use the marking type you hold upside down to mark pavements etc. It seems to work better for me. JG I am going to tell on myself and maybe you already know this but I didn’t. When I was using standard spray paint cans I kept having the same issue of them clogging before I could use half the can. I complained to my friendly ACE hardware man and he said “ did you read directions” uh No..... Seems once your done spraying each time you are supposed to turn it upside down and spray until it quits spraying paint thus cleaning nozzle.... haven’t had an issue since.

It doesn't work with Rustoleum. I've literally just purchased Rustoleum, shake it for 5 minutes, make the trip doen the range, and the nozzle clog halfway through. Can upside down, change out nozzles, it doesn't matter. They will lock up and you have your dollar bills imprisoned inside the can.

I just started using striping paint on my larger targets. The spray comes out in a wide swath and makes the painting go a lot quicker. It comes in a solvent based or water based variety. I use the water based.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
