Wish we were still there, as the temp hits 100 today in N. Texas. Visited Mt Evans, Rocky Mountain National Park and wanted to drive thru RM Arsenal NWR(to see world class mule deer in velvet), but it was closed due to the plague in prairie dogs. All photos taken w/Nikon P1000.
Found moose just outside Aspen & Breckenridge.
On top of Mt. Evans we saw quite a few mountain goats, several bighorn sheep ewes, but no big curl rams around. Also spotted a 'whistle pig', or marmot.
Up top of trail ridge drive in RMNP, there was a large elk herd, along with some nice bulls. Mule deer and magpies were found at lower elevation near Moraine Park(where all the famous bull elk fighting photos during the rut are from).
Estes Park has a large in-town population of both deer & elk.
Mountain scenery - photos don't do it justice, you have to see it in person. Maroon Bells near Aspen.
