3-4 looking purely at dentine, but looks 5ish looking at the crests.

This deer's youngest tooth on the left side is jacked up for sure

Classic 5.5 according to the Sev. technique. None dished out, so not older than 5.5. On one side you could make an argument for 4.5 based on the width of the dentine, nut not a good one and not on the other side.

I called this buck 5.5 when I saw him alive. He was aged at 5.5 by 2 different people after he was killed. When I got this jawbone back I still said 5.5 and did not think he was any younger. Front incisors were pulled and sent off...I will post what that age was a bit later.

Oh boy, may 7 yr old guess is gonna be way off. I'm guessing the sentence above gives us a hint...the deer is younger than 5.5

The left and right sides are different, makes aging this way difficult. What was the age with the front tooth?

I’d say 5+ and my inclination would be more on the +. That’s just from the deer I have seen on our place. Several of the deer we have watched from year to year and know how old they are show surprisingly little wear when compared to tooth age charts I have seen.

Ages for these, top to bottom, were 8.5, 6.5, and 7.5. But, other than for research, for most management purposes 6.5+ is good enough.

When I had them in my hands I said the same thing...only I called him 5 on one side and could possibly go 6 on the other by the way I was taught 28 yrs ago.

You still have time to waffle on your guess grin

He was 6.5 yrs old. Non-protein and large acreage low fence.
