Driving around Arlington (population 400,000) this morning I saw multiple front yards containing anywhere between 5 and 15 White Wing Doves.

An outlaw could have limited out with a Daisy Red Ryder.

I was at my lease in young county over the weekend. Half of our front field was packed with sunflowers and full of birds. We have got burned before because It is not unusual for the field to get turned by the rancher just before Dove season opener, but this year the mesquite flat next to the field has as many or more sunflowers than is in the field and as many birds. It is easily the most sunflowers I have ever seen on our place out of 18 years. My only worry is if the country around us has as many sunflowers as we do, the migrators could end up anywhere.

I'm outside of Lubbock and am not seeing the numbers I usually see this time of year. I figured with all the rain we had early on this would be a great year but so far I'm a little worried.

Still got wheat standing that was grazed a little but not harvested down in Dickens county and hoping birds will find it. Could be a good shoot for the grandkids.

Summer Update on the Birds... W/ Work, I get to travel from West Ft. Worth,Weatherford,Jacksboro,Wichita Falls,Vernon Down to Seymour,Haskell,Anson,Roby then down to Sweetwater and Abilene. LAST YEAR During My Summer Travel Season (June & July & Aug.) Plus Working out at the Deer lease in Woodson It was the WORST YEAR of Seeing Native Birds (Since I can remember) and the Season was just as Bad.

So, Having Been out that way since June, Fellows, I hate to Break the Bad News to you but I'm not seeing a Whole lot of Birds (Like I thought I would w/ All the Rain we had this past Spring). I did see some pockets of fair numbers but OVERALL I saw a just a few more than last year. I would describe the populations (thus far) being BELOW AN AVERAGE YEAR. It may take a year or two for the native populations to bounce back from the BAD YEAR that we had in '18.

I saw 10 birds total on mon and tues out on haskell. It's really weird. Perfect conditions, but hardly any birds. The most I've seen is in the metroplex

Seeing tons of whitewings! Unfortunately, they're all around my downtown office. And they're there year 'round, like pigeons. Driving to my house out in the country seeing a few, but no real numbers. Office is in Waco, house about 20 miles south of town.
