Looking for a mower to mow about 3 acres of grass. most would need to be finished lawn and a little could be mowed higher. I'm thinking one off those kind you sit on and they have the 2 bars . Any input?

A good zero turn cuts your time in half. A smaller good zero turn is better than a bigger cheaper made one. For example if you see a 24hp motor on a 60” stamped steel deck and the same motor on a smaller unit with a fabbed deck they will often be the same price. If you’re going to keep it for more than a couple of years your better off buying the better unit even if it’s smaller. On top of that the larger deck will have a slower mowing speed given the same motor. A good solid unit will give you 100s of hours of service with belt changes and the occasional pulley change assuming you service the motor. Reading up on them they are all rated in mph and acres/hour mowing.

Buy from a dealer not a big box store. Home Depot, Lowes can't service and will send you to a dealer if you have any issues. I bought my Toro zero turn from a dealer and glad I did. Any service that I have needed, he gets on it right away. I've sent others to buy from him as a result.

++ on the Kawasaki motor. I've had my Toro seven years now and replaced a couple of spindles, three belts, seat and one bracket. I change the oil, oil filter and fuel filter at least a couple of times a season. The mower gets a lot of use. Motor has never given me any problem at all.

I've had good luck with John Deere zero turns.

John Deere will stand behind everything they sell except their manure spreader.

Keep in mind, a good zero turn is gonna cost you but they're worth it in the long run if simple maintenance is kept up. I prefer Scag, built like a tank and will run forever, but there are a number of other good options out there. Also, if you're mowing 3 acres I wouldn't go smaller than a 52in deck

The general consensus of guys who mow for as living is they would rather buy a used commercial thats in good shape than a new residential. I guess there is that much a difference.

Exactly what I’d did. I need a mower for 2 different 1 acre tracts. Didn’t want the haste of residential crap with non rebuildable parts. Found me a slightly used commercial that is way more mower than I’ll ever need
