Oh Boy !!! I’ve always wanted a Swedish Mauser and Just picked one up. I wished I would have got one years ago when they were $130.00 . Well I got a good one. It’s a Carl Gustav Sweed Mauser in very good condition with all matching serial numbered parts. Bluing is very nice and very few dents in the wood. I don’t think this one ever saw any action. It was made in 1908. Cabelas In Ft Worth had 10 of them and I kept passing on them at the $599.00 price tag. The fine Gun Room manager saw me looking at them again and we started talking about them. They were down to just 3 guns left and he said he would knock off $100.00 for me. Well I took up his offer and now I have a Beautiful Mauser at the house. Wish I could post pics but it’s to difficult on this site for me. I’d like to hear some good stories of your Sweed Mauser. Have a good day.

I picked up my Gustav Mauser last year in Austin at McBride's, excellent condition just missing the thread protector, still haven't shot it, have 2 boxes of ammo waiting...

Welcome to the Club THETEXAN van THF. Swedish mausers are my favorite rifles and 6.5x55 is my favorite cartridge. I have so many swedish mausers, I can't remember exactly how many I have. Two of my model 96s have 1898 dates. I have a CG63 Target rifle that was made on an antique Model 94 receiver. And the pride of my collection a M41B Sniper rifle that was hand picked from the importer by dealer Dennis Kroh. I bought several M96 Target rifles with only the diopter sights removed way back when Century arms sold them for something like a 4 fer $100 deal as ufixems. I sometimes hunt with the Sniper rifle, but usually am using a Remington 700 classic in 6.5x55. You did good, that is a good buy at today's prices. And the ammo for it is real affordable compared to the cost of a lot of other old military cartridges. My experience is that the Swedish Mausers, Swiss Shmidt Rubins, and Finn M39 Mosin Nagants are three of the most accurate Military C&Rs out there. None are as sexy looking as those Swedes though.

Your Swede should have a bore disc. Here is how to read it.

Love my three Swedes! Ruger M77 Mk. II, customized M96 (not just bubba'ed, but done right), and my new favorite: CZ 550FS Mannlicher stocked.

The Ruger likes 120 grain projectiles and the other two like 140s. Your's will probably like 140s+.

I have one and my goal is to shoot a hog with it. Never even seen a hog when I was sitting with it. Great firearms.
