Since Reason Doves Mourn, 2 Beez, and Snake Wrangler like Harris hawks, I'll post a couple of photos of one. I actually had the opportunity to go hunting with this hawk. Amazing how fast they react. The bird that its standing on only made it about 20' before the hawk nailed it. From the handler to the kill, about 3 or 4 seconds.
Very cool birds.

That's a beauty. Never seen one here (Deep East Texas) and I spend a LOT of time out in the woods.

Lots of Red Tailed hawks, Red Shouldered and Sharp Shinned here, occasional Bald Eagle, lots of Owls. Kestrels too.

That is awesome!!! I must say some of my best times in the field growing up were hunting with the birds. I wish pops would get back into that.

I too, love falconry. I thought I might get into it at one time. Then I researched all the training and apprenticeship work that goes into it. I soon realized I barely had the time for what life was throwing at me on a daily basis, let alone all the time that goes into falconry. Trapping them is cool stuff too. I've never done it, but watched videos of it.

Mmmm Hmmm

I have thought about also DG. I was offered a chance to be an apprentice in falconry but just didn't think I had the time. Wouldn't it be awesome to hunt something like pheasants with a hawk.

Heck yeah it would! I would love to duck hunt or anything, really. And yeah, that apprenticeship is like a year, or year and a half. You have to catch one, train it and all kinds of time stealing stuff, lol. Time...it goes on forever, but somehow, there's never enough of it.

Mmmm Hmmm
