How do you prefer yours. I brown mine and smash with the back of a spoon or a fork constantly until it is broken into very small pieces throughout the entire cooking process. I do not like the big chunks at all, even in chili. A couple of guys at work and I were discussing this after one of them complained about his wife using the big chunk method. We all agreed with my method

I crumble mine with my hands except for chili meat. I like to grind my chili meat directly into the pot.

Ever notice that sometimes ground beef has a funky aroma when browning?

My wife dislikes that smell. So when I brown ground meat I will add my garlic and onion during the browning process.

It's about cumblong into the pan a little at a time. I don't like chunks, but I do want some bite to them. I usually brown a little at a time so I can really sear the meat hard.

I am complete opposite. I want it taco bell fine for tacos. I poke the heck out of it and simmer for 20 min to soften up.

usually take it down to smaller pieces consistently throughout the pan, using a heavy plastic or wooden spoon. We cook several pounds and separate into approximately 1 lbs packages, vacuum seal and freeze for quick meals. When doing that, usually leave it a bit chunkier and can break down more if needed for whatever application we use it for.

Yep. Ground feral hog meat is a little worse, but like beef the smell disappears as the meat cooks..

I break the meat up into small 'crumbles' as a rule. I have the notion it makes for more even cooking, but that's probably just my personal bias.
