Has anyone seen or made bolt on varmint plates for 55 gallon drums? I have seen a few feeder stands for 55 gallon drums that have varmint cages surrounding the feeder motor (about $250) , but no actual plates that would just clamp on to the bottom of the barrel!

I made a varmint plate from an old lid for a 55 gallon barrel. I have a eliminator spinner on mine and a box which holds the battery / timer with 4 bolts holding it. The plate is almost the size of the bottom of the barrel with a hole for the spinner to drop down when activated. The 4 bolts that hold the box also holds the varmint plate. Had to remove the box to install plate then put nuts above and below the plate on each bolt. The bottom of barrel serves as a top for the varmint plate. Coons cannot get to the corn but they still pick up some of what is on the ground.

I think a kit would be a good idea. I am thinking of making another for a different feeder.

Ive made a few like this Take the lid and make a bottom plate This defeats the purpose of the plates. This still knocks half the corn to the ground and piles it up around the feeder, no bueno........

I’m not a big fan of the self tappers into the barrel, a bolt would be better

Ramball36, I think you may be on to something with a "feeder plate conversion kit". In my opinion, there is a market for that idea.

Ramball36, this is similar to what I was talking about ! I was going to use a barrel lid and bolt straight to the bottom of the barrel with spacers and a hole cut for the spinner plate with the feeder motor box bolted to it! Definitely less expensive that buying a whole new feeder!

I'm looking to add something like this to my pig feeder but I don't like the box exposed like that. Afraid big hogs would have their way with that!
