I've used the Nikon's and they worked well.

I have the Vortex ones and they work equally as well. Been trying to sell them to funds buying my wife's new bow.

What's a concern that you have with them, Buzz?

The Nikon, Vortex, and Sig all look like they came from the same factory, especially the Nikon and Vortex. They all have a slightly blue tint to them as well when looking through them. The sig was especially fast to range, then the Nikon, and the Vortex took a second or so longer. That's about all I know about them. The only reason I'd buy the Vortex is the warranty is lifetime on bino and electronics. Nobody else does that except Athlon IIRC.

Since I have a Kestrel that links to the Sig and because Derrick at Horizon had great luck with that combo in Africa I used my Cabelas points to get the Sig.
Even without the Kestrel it gave me firing solutions to 650 that were fast and accurate and the quality of the Bino’s are not that bad but not Swarovski

Whats the eye relief on the Sig Doug?

this is my main concern Skylar. I'm not worried about any Bluetooth connections or that stuff.

just accurate range numbers in the daylight, and while hunting game. I like the "all in one" package. sounds like the glass is best on the Nikon and Sig. Both have good pricing now, probably coming out with new models

WOW !!! That is, I need to look through a pair, The Nikons were better than the Vortex through my old eyes.

There is a new Cabela's branded 10x50 range finding bino that is advertised in this week's flyer (not on sale, just advertised for $999):
https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/cabelas-cx-pro-hd-rangefinder-binoculars?searchTerm=2512148

I haven't found any reviews of it and none of the stores in DFW have it in stock. I understand that in the past, Cabela's branded optics have been made by multiple different manufacturers, including Meopta, and that the optics quality of the different Cabelas branded models has varied significantly from very good to very mediocre. I have no idea who makes this one, but customer service told me via e-mail that this one is made in China, for what that's worth.

Also, German Precision Optics has recently announced 10x50 range finding binoculars: https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2019/4/27/gpo-usa-releases-rangeguide-10x50/

I don't know anything about it either. To me, it looks very similar to the Cabelas branded pair, including the buttons and some of the specs, but I don't think that necessarily means anything in terms of the manufacturer. I know GPO has facilities in Germany and I believe their higher end optics are made in Japan.

Does anyone know anything about either of those? I'm interested in the Cabela's branded version if they put it on sale or send me a coupon.

The Cabelas version and the Athlon Cronus version appear to be possibly clones of each other. I do know Athlon's is made in China as well.

I think the GPO is a Japanese made bino of very high quality, using the high end HD lens system. I'd bet it's a step above the Cabelas and Athlon. The Vortex Fury and Nikon Laserforce are both made in China as well. Not sure about the Sig but I bet it is too given it's price point. Did Cabelas say anything about the warranty on their bino?

So I had the occasion to drop by Cabelas Lubbock , and they had the new Cableas RF/Bino. Glass was pretty good, build quality seemed ok, had a pretty quick laser response. BIG problem is that it comes with a paltry 1 yr warranty. I asked the guy behind the counter about that and he said Cabelas now will offer a 3rd party warranty extension for stuff like this. He showed me the little brochure (can't remember the name of the service), but the cost fo 2 addtional years warranty was almost $275. I think Bass Pro is the worst thing to ever happen to Cabelas, as I perceive this to be an absolute joke.

I wasn’t to happy about the Bass Pro deal either as I consider their product lines to be a step below Cabelas.
Bass Pro should have stuck to what they know ....selling worms and taffy

Worst thing that ever happened to Cabela's is going from private to publicly traded stock instead of a private company, investor group jumped in and started dictating how some things would be done. The Credit card was the real money maker for Cabela's as the brand owned the bank

Yelp, but a lot of employees where able to cash in on equity, so was some/little good.

Just a repeat of GM selling off GMAC

I’m about to cancel my cabelas card and switch to scheels
