Just pick one of these 3 for extra long range shooting say a mile. Just ONE of these, not your personal favorite, 7mm Mag, etc.

1. 300 Win Mag
2. .300 PRC
3. 6.5 PRC

Of just those 3, the 300 PRC is the hottest round with good BC, high bullet weight, and good velocity. When getting out beyond 1000 yards for ELR, you want 3 things- high BC, bullet weight, and high muzzle velocity. The question is where do you want to compromise? For me, I want high weight and high BC. So, 30 cal for me between those choices. The PRC is hotter than the Win Mag by about 2-3 grains powder charge bullet weight for bullet weight.

(And the 28 Nosler with 195 EOL blows all 3 of those out of the water, by a huge margin)

Are you really planning to shoot a mile? If so, I'd go 300 PRC first, 300 Win Mag second, and 6.5 PRC third. If most of your shooting is really only going to be out to something more reasonable like 1200 - 1300 yards, with only an occasional go at that one mile target, I'd move the 6.5 PRC up the list.

The best shooter at a mile i ever personally witnessed was shooting a 300 mag, so based solely on that and the fact that the 300 mag has been around for a while, and info (reloading and such) should be a little more plentiful and easier to come by, i would go 300 mag. But, I am not a LR shooter, so take that for what it is worth

That’s pretty easy decision. 300 PRC 8.5 twist with 250 ATips

I would go 300 Win Mag because I like having plenty sources of brass. You like new rounds so you should pick one of the other 2.

300WM + ADG Brass + Berger 215 = Success. I have been behind, and around this combo enough at matches and for fun that it's hard to ignore just how capable it is at 1 mile targets. The 300PRC is a very well thought out design and may indeed be the superior choice down the road. It's a non-starter for me right now until someone is willing to make brass that lives up to the cartridges long range potential. It's coming. The 7 will do what you are wanting to do, but at the cost of short bbl life if you want to do it well. The super 7's do it better...and die even faster. The 6.5 PRC is a nice round and is capable of 1mile targets for sure, but 1 mile consistency is another story, at least at the altitudes we shoot most often. There are several GREAT options not on your list, obviously.

Only a mile 6.5 would be more pleasant to shoot.

Like DStroud said, that's kinda a no brainer. Out of those choices, the 300 PRC has the best case design, and capacity and the new A-tip is the best bullet for the job.

If you are going to really be a mile shooter you should be able to answer that.

Figure out the ballistics input into a calculator. From there you can make a decision

If you knew for sure you were never going past a mile, I'd say 6.5 PRC. It will get you there without much drama or recoil. The other two will do a lot more and between them I would pick the .300 PRC. But if you're going to spend that kind of money, just spend a little more and build a .28 Nosler.

It better be a really good factory rifle for launching pills consistently to 1 mile.
