Would be pretty cool to own 100 square miles of land. But, If I had a quarter billion dollars to spend, I wouldnt buy in west texas.

To much there I’d never use or want. Airport nope. Golf course nope. Lots of maintenance on all those buildings nope. Give me the land a good size barn and maybe 3k sq ft house and I’m good. And I don’t even need that.

Closer to my thoughts, that pace would take too much work.

Too much to maintain, besides everything has already been done. I'd buy a piece of land and put my own stamp on it for that kind of money.

That is an awesome place. I cannot imagine the cost of a staff to keep it up.

Too big and fancy. I would buy a ranch in Wyoming big enough for landowner tags for mule deer, whitetails, elk and pronghorns and a second ranch in the Hill Country for exotics. I would also need some fishing holes, on each ranch, trout in Wyoming and bass in Texas.

My uncle, in moment of honest clarity brought on by copious amounts of whiskey, once told me he wish he would have never improved his place like he did. No high fence, no lake, no pivot, fields, Wells, etc.

Said he spent too much time maintaining and not enough time enjoying.

My ideal place, is one that I can walk away from for a year, and besides a little grass mowing and weed eating, is in more or less the same shape I left it in.

Tractor work is fun and I enjoy clearing cedar, mesquite and dong stuff that will improve my hunting enjoyment, but I see people go overboard all the time and create an issue that takes a full time crew to keep moving along

Just imagine how much the taxes, we fought so hard to not pay for, would be on that land.

Nevermind the maintenance and extra fanciness. I count 10 planes there. That means there's too many people there, I don't like too many people.

As an OSU alum, I am a big fan of TBP, but agree with others, even if I had a billion or so laying around, not sure this would be of interest. WAY TOO MUCH WORK! Having to rely on a staff of dozens to maintain is not attractive to most individuals. More likely something a corporation may purchase for a retreat or investment property. Guessing 10 years from now it will have been chopped up into smaller parcels, with the home and airstrip being used by a multi-national corp for events.

I'd love to know the annual costs to maintain it.

He could host and house lots of folks there. Was on a dove hunt and one of our guys in private equity spent a weekend hunting there with like 50 other energy investment folks. Wonder how long it will sit on the market.
