Was that a sudden loss? Condolences for the loss
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Sorry to hear about that. Always tough losing a family member.

Was that a sudden loss? Condolences for the loss Yes. No signs at all. Was happy and bouncing around at 3 and stiff at 7. 3 days from her 8th birthday. Kennel was spotless, no vomit, blood, poop, nothing. Like she was laying there asleep and had a heart attack. No clue.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

That is the kind of surprise nobody wants to get. It's very hard not to get attached to a Brittany. They love you like a Lab.

So sorry to hear this.

Condolences. They give us all they have without even being asked most of the time. The passing of the good ones take me awhile to get over. A promising new puppy helps...

One of life's greatest incongruities...a dog lives 10 or so years... a man lives 70 or so...leaves the door open for more than one "good" dog, in a man's life...but most of us have had a special one...and when they go...no matter their age, no matter the circumstance...it's way too soon, and way too sudden ! In my prayers, sir.

Kev I'm so very sorry for your loss.
I had my 9 year old, do the same thing last year. I had him, and a young pup in the field with me. It was a beautiful cool morning, and we were only in the field for maybe 15 minutes tops. They pointed a quail. Then he made a loop to go in, and relocate it after the flush. Just as I saw him get birdy, his whole body started to relax. I rushed to him, and helped him lay on his side. He never struggled, and in under a minute he was passed away. I can't begin to tell you how upset I was, but I know you are feeling the same way.
It took me a couple of days to think about it. He left this world without out feeling any pain. If I could chose the way I leave, I wouldn't mind it being the same way.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
