Cleaning the ar10 and the firing pin and firing pin retaining pin came out. The retaining pin has a tensioning split toward the end, but slides in and out easily. Should I 1 - try to slightly spread the tip or 2 - install and tap with punch to spread? Don't have a spare laying around and have hogs to kill. Not asking for a friend. Thanks!

It is a pin, not a carter key.

Does it fall out easily or does it require a little push?

I would not bend it to much, just enough to maintain tension

It fell out very easily. I was worried that bending it might break it, so I wound up putting a pocket knife blade in the split and gently tapped with a bp hammer. Spread it out enough to create a holding pressure. Shot 2 hogs after that, so good for now. Will be checking it frequently. Thanks
