Anybody chasing a certain deer for a few years that's feeling like this season could be the one?! Or has anyone recently got any trail cam pics of any of the deer near the top of their hit list?! Id love to see and hear about yall's goals this season!

Not really any standouts picked for this year. Most years we have one we have had our eye on for a while, but no regulars we are looking for this year. We have seen a few off and on over the past couple years that im sure would be dandy shooters if they showed but they would likely be chance rut sightings as opposed to the feeder maid we have been watching.

Ditto.

We won't have cameras up and running for three more weeks and I am trying to keep my expectations realistic. We need to be shooting does early and often on our place this year anyway as we slacked off the last two season on dropping slicks.
There are some ghosts in the brush that I hope surface during the rut, but I suspect the bucks I am looking for may have died of old age by now.

I just want to kill a deer with my bow.

Wouldn't mind a nice axis slipping into the feeder but they come and go. I would be happy with one of the mature dink 7's or 8's that we have.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

took all our cameras down a few months ago as the LO was/is planning on doing a underbrush burn across part of the place after dozer got done clearing fire lanes on our Fairfield lease ... so no idea what potential awaits. I saw a young (2.5-3.5 y/o) 12 point year before last that could be a true stud this year ... no one saw him last year though.

this is year number 6 of very strict culling and management on our Ozona place, LO was out a couple of weeks ago and said she saw several really nice bucks close to some of our feeder locations. Hopefully the cows haven't screwed up the cameras (like last time I was out) and I have an idea what she thinks is really nice. I'll be making a trip out in late Aug to early Sept

One I've seen 3 years running, always at about 250 yards, and he never stops. Not huge, but good enough.

Had a 12 pointer on camera many times last year right up to bow season. Not putting much hope in seeing him again but sure would like to.

Ok Pitchfork here is the story.

Last year, Friday afternoon before opening day of rifle season, I was driving down the county road to my buddy's farm. In the pasture directly across from his gate was a heavy racked 8 point with 2 does. The buck's antlers were about the same color as one of those Butterscotch DumDum Lollipops. His name became Butterscotch.

That evening, my buddy and I folded out the lawn chairs and watched the power line right of way that runs for about 250 yards through his property. About dusk I saw Butterscotch cross the county road and go into the woods directly adjacent to the right of way.

I hunted that right of way the next morning until about Noon and Butterscotch did not show. Fast forward to January 2019 and the game cameras my buddy had out to see what survived the season showed a buck that looked just like Butterscotch.

Now you know...the rest of the story.

I'd have to get a decoy. And I'd have to walk past my feeder to get there. It's a thought. I thought about putting out some corn, but the cattle would eat it. If end up putting it out just when I hunt.

Yes! We are in an AR county...his name is The Wonky buck...he is about 6 and a huge deer with a jacked up rack that has a very small split at the end of what would be a main beam spike. That little fork has saved his rear the last three years that I have had him in my scope. Last year he was one of the biggest bodied deer I have ever seen with a huge neck his tiny forks and horns too narrow to be legal. I hope he is wide enough this year but I kind of doubt he will be. I believe ARs work but in this case they do not! Besides Wonky, my goal is to take a legal deer for the first time with a bow.

Maybe he'll break off that main beam. I've seen it.

That would not necessarily make him legal.

If it leaves him with one unbranched antler it will.

Whammer, he looks like he'd make a good coat rack, and would grill up just fine!

I’m thinking we will have to ground check this buck this year.

I shot this deer the third year I saw him. Early on he looked full of promise, but pretty much all he did was add mass. Very narrow, decent height on his main beam and the most mass I’ve seen at our lease.
