My 2 (Sally&Chief) keep surprising me at how smart they are, Chief learned to lift the lid on the wooden box i keep their feed in with his nose and steal food at night, and Sally, whenever you say "Where is the kitty cat" or Where is Sox" she runs off the porch and looks up in trees and out in the pasture.... I think most dogs are smarter than their owners.

My blue lacy is wired "on" 110% of the time. After about 4 am I have to be extremely careful how I move around, if I'm semi-awake, 'cause one wrong move and she will suddenly appear, nudging my hand, insisting that the "perimeter" should be patrolled. When you speak to her, about anything, you can see her desperately trying to understand you. She hasn't come up with a solution for the trade problem with China yet, but I'm hopeful.

Had a Boston that was so smart we had to spell words around her that we didnt want her to hear. (Vet, bath) She could understand complex multi part commands and do problem solving. (I.e. - push chair over to counter and then use it to climb up and get snacks out of a closed cabinet.). If she would of had an opposable thumb I could have sent her to kindergarten.

Yesterday I gave Izzie a piece of spicy marinaded venison. She was hesitant to take it but she did. She just stood there with it in her mouth looking at me with a WTF look. I told her if she did not want it I would take it back. She stuck the end of the strip of meat out of her mouth and waited. I reached over and took the meat out of her mouth. She amazes me sometimes. Haha some are smart and some are not so smart.

our blue heeler isn't one of the brightest or quickest to pick things up, but eventually she does pretty well on most things ... but she is a gluten and honestly think she would eat herself to death if given the opportunity with an open container of food ...

Growing up we had a Golden, Snickers. My parents house was shaped like a "U". Bedroom on 1 side, game room on the other with a living room in the middle. Between the BR and GR was the back porch....
My dad was de-boning the rear quarter of a deer one evening and gave Snickers a bone. He threw it out the back door and let her out. About 5 minutes later, Snickers wanted to come in with the bone. My dad wouldn't let her. She would come in the house, leave the bone outside, only to want to be immediately be let back outside again. Finally she came to the back door without the bone.We let her in and in about 2 minutes she showed up in the kitchen with the bone. Out the back door they both went. Same thing again, she comes to the back door without the bone, so we let her in. AGAIN, she shows up in the kitchen with the bone.
Make a long story short, she had somehow ripped the screen on the bedroom window, nudged the window open with her nose, dropped the bone in through the window. She would be let in the back door, go around the corner and retrieve the bone out of the window and prance into the kitchen to show us all up....

They beg at my table. They help me find cheap meat. They will bring it back and put it in my hand. Hunting with them is like walking into and out of a beautiful painting all day long.

My lab learned to open all the yard gates. Had to put latches on them.

My dog will go around the yard and pickup twigs and lay them neatly parallel to each other next to laying spot in the yard. OCD
