My brother and I are planning a trip up to the Panhandle to hunt some of the Floyd county public lands in December.
Anyone familiar with the area have advice on a decent place (hotel, motel, etc) to stay for a couple nights. We're not looking for anything fancy, but don't want to wake up to the truck missing either! Also, we'll have a couple dogs with us.
Thanks
COUNTING THE DAYS TO SEPT 1ST!!!

We stay at the Quality Inn in Plainview. Decent room, free breakfast, good price, and dog friendly.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Thanks! I'll look into the quality inn.
Do you hunt pheasant up there often?

That’s awesome!
Typically how’s the hunting? We’ll be hunting the public lands, I hunt the public lands down in south Texas pretty often, so I’m somewhat familiar with how they tend to be, not expecting a “preserve” like hunt but hoping to walk away with at least a few birds after 3 days.

I've never hunted any of the public land. We do one of the local lions club hunts. The hunting has been pretty hit or miss since the drought, but if you put in the work, you'll find some birds.

Floydada has a motel or two. There is a 2-story one on the south side of town on 62. Your truck will be fine, just don't tempt anyone with leaving stuff in it. Floydada has a very high "low socioeconomic" population. Some can be mouthy/attitude, but they are not bad people. I live about 20 miles away... Good luck!

All 4 motels in floydada have bed bugs. Knock yourself out. Floydada is also covered with cranes, each and every year
