I do like my ice cream partly melted, but I never put it in the microwave. I just scoop it and give it a few minutes to soften up.
If you nuke or partially thaw the tub and refreze it will get denser and harder and not as good.

That has never happened to me. I've done it for years. It never partially thaws. It softens the top just enough to make it easy to scoop.

It never really thaws. It only softens like the video that you can see on the Astros game tonight. Makes a perfect scoop. Cherry pie was involved.

If its really frozen hard, I will put my bowl or cup in the MW for 10-15 seconds.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

nope, like my ice cream cold ... Same here. Do you guys use an ice pick to plate it? Ice cream that is that hard to scoop has suffered from what I was describing above. When it softens up it is partially melting even though it isn't turning into a liquid. When it re-freezes lol "gets hard again" it is freezing more dense/hard etc. My wife worked in an ice cream plant for 7 years and still is in and out of there on occasion. Alton Brown had an episode of good eats that explained it well.

agree with redchevy ... if the ice cream hasn't previously partially melted, it scoops out easily ... once thawed and refrozen, it gets very hard and difficult to scoop.

Yes I see melted ice cream around the edged of the tub. If it softens, that is evidence of it melting a little but not completely. My wife use to work where your creamy creations was made.

Put it in a bowl and then about 15 secs. in the micro is just right for me.
