Taxidermist finally finished up my deer mounts from 2017 & 18. The original taxidermist from 2017 ruined the caped. Then gave me a long song and dance about replacing it. Got my deposit and antlers back and took it to Shumate's in Seymore TX. They've been doing my mounts for years and do a great job. She added my 2017 in with my 2018 and finished them both up at the same time. I went with a left and right sneak pose mount.

The one on the left is my 2017 buck 13 pt which scored 143. The one on the right is last years 10 pt which scored 120. Being totally honest I'm pissed at myself for shooting that one. We try to take 5.5 year old bucks or older. He was only 3.5 years old. He looked much better running the other bucks off when I shot him.

Good looking deer and thanks for posting. Its great you can be honest about shooting a deer younger than you thought or wanted.
I should probably bite my tongue about the your taxidermy comments but this forum I think is about hearing opinions from all sources, especially when it may make a difference to someone. I don't have a real eye for taxidermy and I cant tell in the pics at all but you are obviously pleased. However, for what its worth, one of our hunters took a great 160 buck to Shumates and in his opinion(not mine) the taxidermy was the worse he had seen. He brought it to our deer camp and everyone agreed. You got several you like and my story is only one so take that for what its worth.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

Shumate's has been doing mine and a few of my buddies for years without complaint. However, no ones perfect and I guess we all have a bad day. Heck I don't know. I took the 10 pt someone else as Shumates was closed and I was leaving for a week plus business trip the next morning. I didn't want it sitting around in the barn for 10 days. I dropped it off to someone else on my way to the airport. He never called me to say to cape was ruined during the tanning process. After ten months and few phone calls that went unanswered I saw a vehicle out front and stopped in. That's when he told me the cape was ruined and I'd have to help pay for another cape. Nope, I took my antlers, got my deposit back and left.
